Just landed in Athens and need to get to the city center or another part of town? Here’s everything you need to know about the airport bus stop. Athens International Airport (ATH - Eleftherios Venizelos), located in the municipality of Spata-Artemida, is the main international gateway to Greece. If you're looking for a convenient way to get from the airport to downtown Athens, the Port of Piraeus, or one of the intercity bus terminals - you’ll find public transportation just steps from the terminal building.
Where is the public bus stop located?
The airport’s public bus stop is situated directly outside the arrivals hall on the ground level (Arrival Level). After exiting the terminal, turn right and follow the signs marked "Public Buses." The bus lanes are on the first road lane outside the building, right next to the taxi rank. From this stop, you can catch one of four express lines operated by OASA (Athens Urban Transport Organization):
-
X95 - Direct service to Syntagma Square in central Athens
-
X96 - Quick connection to the Port of Piraeus
-
X93 - Heads to the KTEL Kifissos intercity bus terminal
-
X97 - Runs to the Elliniko Metro Station (Athens Riviera area)
Where to buy tickets?
Tickets can be purchased at the kiosk next to the bus stop (open 24/7), from the ticket machine, or directly on board the bus. As of 2025, the standard fare for an airport express line is around €5.50. Tickets are valid for 90 minutes from the time of validation and include transfers on other public transport services within that window.
As you can see, there’s nothing to worry about - the bus stop is clearly marked, the service runs 24/7, and it’s a fast and affordable way to reach the most important spots in Athens, including the city center and the port of Piraeus.
