**Smart Park** is the largest open-air shopping park in Greece (53,000 sq.m.) and a major destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment in Eastern Attica. Right next door you'll find **Designer Outlet Athens** and the **Attica Zoological Park**, together attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors every year.  

If you've driven through the area recently, you've probably noticed the massive construction site directly across the street. So - what's going up there?

A Next-Generation Data Center
-----------------------------

On a 32-acre site opposite Smart Park and adjacent to Designer Outlet Athens, a state-of-the-art **data center** is under construction. This is the **Data In Scale** project, a major investment of approximately **€150 million** , with an initial installed capacity of **12.5 MW** and the ability to scale up to **25 MW**.

The facility will strengthen Greece's digital backbone, supporting growing demand for **cloud services, big data, cybersecurity, and business continuity**.

Who's Behind the Project?
-------------------------

The data center is being developed by **Ten Brinke Hellas** (via Ten Tec) as part of the **Data In Scale** consortium. Key partners include **PPC** (ΔΕΗ) and **EDGNEX Data Centers**.

A strong emphasis is placed on **energy efficiency and sustainable ("green") solutions** , leveraging robust power infrastructure and modern data-center operating standards. The project is part of a broader cloud-infrastructure ecosystem developing in Eastern Attica, which also includes **Microsoft**, boosting the region's international appeal for high-value tech investments.  

Timeline
--------

* **Construction start:** 2025

* **Phase 1 completion (12.5 MW):** Late 2026

* **Future expansion:** Up to 25 MW, depending on market demand

Why It Matters

With the completion of the first phase, **Spata** is steadily emerging as a **digital infrastructure hub in Southeast Europe**. The coexistence of hyperscale data centers alongside high-traffic retail and tourism destinations creates a complex, but highly dynamic, growth environment.
