What led you to launch Momentum?** ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My professional career began in **2011** upon earning my degree. From there, I taught at various dance academies, gaining hands-on experience and working across diverse instructional methodologies. Every studio environment served as a masterclass. I retained everything productive and positive, while also recognizing approaches that clashed with my personal vision. Gradually, I shaped the exact concept of the dance academy I wanted to build. In **2022**, I took that leap and established my own studio right here in Artemida. At the same time, **education never stops.** I continue to attend professional masterclasses and advanced training across dance disciplines, fitness, and conditioning. A dedicated educator must continually evolve and refine their expertise. **At what age can children start, and what dance styles are offered at the studio?** ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Early exposure begins at **age 3**. During these formative years, our curriculum centers on creative movement and music-and-motion games. Through rhythm, structured play, and guided motion, toddlers develop physical coordination, spatial awareness, and creative expression. Starting at **age 6**, students can choose specific disciplines aligned with their interests. We offer comprehensive classes in: **• Classical Ballet • Contemporary Dance • Modern Theatre Dance (Accredited ISTD syllabus) • Hip-Hop • Latin International** **Can older kids or adults join classes without prior dance experience?** ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Absolutely. **There is no age ceiling** , and **zero prior dance background is required** to get started. A student can pick it up at age 10, an adult at 30, or someone at 60. The exact same rule applies to ballet---a question we hear all the time. Our primary mission is for children **to fall in love with movement, build solid physical conditioning, express themselves freely, and gain lasting self-confidence**. Yet, I firmly believe that recreational training must still stand on **rigorous technical fundamentals**. If a student later decides to pursue dance professionally, they must already have the necessary foundation to make that transition seamlessly. The fact that one of our former students is currently enrolled in a pre-professional dance conservatory proves that solid fundamentals open real doors for future success. **Momentum is a certified member of the Greek Association of Recognized Dance Schools and an official Vaganova examination center by CIBU. What does that mean in practice?** ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It means our studio adheres to strict institutional standards, structured curricula, and professional accountability recognized across Greece. Serving as an accredited Vaganova examination center by CIBU allows our students to sit for formal, internationally recognized ballet examinations right here in their own familiar studio environment. Over the past four seasons, we have produced **three major stage showcases**, earned top honors in regional dance competitions, and offered students experiences that go far beyond standard studio classes. A major milestone was our 2024 educational intensive in **Milan** through the Greek Association of Recognized Dance Schools. Our dancers took masterclasses at the Ukrainian Dance Academy based in Milan. This has now become an annual tradition, allowing students to travel, broaden their worldview, and immerse themselves in the international dance scene. Seeing so much growth in a short window brings immense satisfaction and fuels our drive to keep raising the bar. **How do you define student progress within the studio?** --------------------------------------------------------- Growth looks completely different for every dancer, and that is exactly how it should be. For one child, it means mastering technical precision; for another, unlocking self-assurance, or simply finding a creative sanctuary where they can express themselves. And whenever a student chooses to take their training to a professional level, knowing that our studio laid the groundwork for their career path is deeply rewarding. **What is the lasting takeaway you want every student to carry from Momentum?** ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A lifelong passion for dance---and so much more. My priority is delivering structured, high-level instruction without ever losing the sheer joy and energy that make dance special in the first place. Do boys attend your studio, and what styles do they gravitate toward? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Definitely! Dance is never just for girls, and breaking down that misconception is essential. For boys, dance is an outstanding athletic discipline that develops core strength, coordination, agility, body awareness, and self-confidence. We have several boys enrolled across our programs. Depending on their personal style, many lean toward Hip-Hop, contemporary, or modern. Hip-Hop frequently catches their attention first because of its high energy, power, and freestyle nature. But at the end of the day, there is no such thing as "dance for boys" versus "dance for girls." What matters is that each child finds the discipline that resonates with them and embraces physical fitness through movement.
